A few new experiments:
Above:
A lace bracelet. I made double yarn out of used fruit bags - the ones you get for free when you by fruit or weggies, they are the see-through type, thin plastic. I crocheted it, melted and let it cool in shape around a tube. It turned out pretty much like what I'd hoped for. The plastic turns white when melted.

Below:
A bag out of an old shirt. Cut off the sleeves, armholes serve as handles.  Cut off the collar. Seam the bottom. That's it!

Zebra stripes and vintage spools

Spaghetti yarn is turning into a (shapeless) rug. I didn't expect it to be so straining to crochet super bulky yarn. It's really hard work! 

While resting my wrist, I finally executed my idea for the wooden, vintage thread spools. I screwed them on a board and brushed some glue on the threads to attach them to the spools. I wanted to leave the thread ends on to give the rack some colour. It's not on the wall yet, as I'm doing some changes in my sewing room and the rack will be hung on the wall a bit later.

Also, I made a necklace using a few meters of the spaghetti yarn, which is, in fact, sustainable yarn made from offcuts of new fashion garments!

There's also a few new items on my Etsy shop.

Matching mitts

This time crocheting. 

I had still some Noro Taiyo left so I made a few granny squares and attached them together to make fingerless mitts.

Lunta tulee lisää, vaikka kaikki paikat on jo täynnä. Mutta ei se haittaa. Tykkään talvesta edelleen. Kotimatkan varrella oli hieno lumiaalto talon katolla.

It's snowing constantly. There's no more space for snow anywhere. Parking is hard because huge snow piles keep growing even bigger. But it's beautiful and it's the kind of winter I love. So bring it on! On my way home I spotted this awesome snow wave on a roof.

Ajankuluksi virkkasin lämpimän rannekorun ja sormuksen. Rannekoru on tehty puikko- /varrasvirkkauksella. Monivärilanka ei ehkä ollut paras vaihtoehto kuvion kannalta, mutta oli niin kivat värit, että ei haittaa.

Today I crocheted a bracelet and a ring. The technique I used for the bracelet is broomstick crochet. The multicolor yarn doesn't do justice for the pattern, but the colors are nice enough.

Lisää lunta! Sekä sisällä että ulkona. Hedelmäpussit on käyneet kotona jo niin vähiin, että piti töissä tonkia kaappeja. Löytyihän niitä sen verran, mitä ehti tänä iltana virkkaamaan.

More snow!! Both inside and outside of the house! I'm running out of fruit bags at home so today I had to search for more at work - and found a few. Just enough to use them all up tonight.

Muovipussi ennen ja jälkeen -- Plastic Bag Before and After

Miten muovipussista tuli lumihiutale?

How a plastic bag turned into a snowflake?

1. Otetaan käytetty hedelmäpussi ja sakset. Leikataan pohja pois ja suikaloidaan n. sentin levysiksi renkuloiksi. Liitetään renkulat toisiinsa, jolloin muodostuu kaksinkertainen "lanka".

Take a used plastic bag (fruit bag) and scissors. Cut the bottom of the bag off. Cut the bag in loops that are about 1 cm wide. Join the loops together to for a double "yarn".

2. Virkataan kiva kuvio.

Crochet a nice pattern.

3.  Silitetään leivinpaperin välissä. Jäähtyessään lumihiutale kovettuu.

Iron between to pieces of baking paper. When it cools off it'll harden.

4. Lumihiutale on valmis!
The snowflake is ready to be hung as a decoration!
