Another baby hat, hopefully closer to his size, for the new arrival.

White and light
The project I've been waiting to start:
Kimono-oh by Pickles.
I knew I wanted to knit the Kimono-oh as soon as I saw the first photo of the design on Instagram. And you can't imagine how many nights I spent looking at the yarn kits trying to decide which colour it should be. My initial choice would have been a bright colour, but I told myself to choose a more neutral one, just to be sure I can wear it for many years. So, white it is.
Will take a while to finish.

Oslo Anorak
I finished this warm and woolly knit just when it was about too hot to even think about knitting.
Lovely pattern, fun to knit and the color combo just fell in place unintentionally.
Pattern: Oslo Anorak by Pickles (ravelry link)
The pattern can be found here.
Yarn:
Purple: Cascade Heathers 100% wool
Green: Pirtin kehräämö karstalanka 100% wool
On the side, I knitted a quick baby hat for my new nephew.
Luckily, I had some cotton from Woolrocks' yarn swap waiting.
Pattern: Vauvan myssy by Novita (ravelry link)
Yarn: Drops Paris in 2 colours, 100% cotton.

| New one on the way! |
A few Instagram shots of what's been going on during the past couple of weeks.
I've been travelling a lot.
And along the way, knitting a lot.
I've been twice in Tampere,
once in Turku and Pietarsaari,
and for about an hour in Helsinki. (Worth mentioning, right?)
Hours and hours on train, plenty of time to knit..
..and just booked my next train tickets.

Bread and yarn
Sweetpotato bread:
400g mashed sweet potato
1/2 tea spoons salt
2 dl rye flour
1 1/2 dl wheat flour
225°C
15 minutes
I took part in a yarn swap and received an amazing package of yarn.
I've been wanting to order some nice yarn from Pickles for a while now, but haven't done it yet and now I don't have to!
A nice Norwegian knitter (whom I've never met or even heard of before) knew exactly what kind of yarn I wanted and sent me a whole lot, accompanied with a pattern for leg warmers, to my astonishment, as I was planning on knitting leg warmers as my next project! How amazing is that!
Thank you so much, Catrine! Your yarn will be on its way soon!

Before and after
Pattern by Tiina @ Muitaihania
Yarn: Viking Eco Alpaca
Before Christmas I didn't feel like knitting a whole lot.
Only one wooly present and another handmade gift left the house last Christmas.
Or at least I'd like to thing the framed thingy is handmade... ok, let's say it's put together with my own hands.
During Christmas I found the long-lost motivation in knitting and finished off a project I'd started a year and a half ago:

Shadow
My first KAL (knit-along) and mystery knit project is finished. That was an exciting experience. It was a mystery all the way to the end. Those of you who don't know what a mystery pattern is, it's a pattern you receive in parts, not knowing what you'll end up with when you're finished. This one consisted of 3 parts e-mailed weekly.
This one was by one of my favourite designers, Veera Välimäki. And here it is (haven't blocked it yet):

It's getting colder..
Farmers and birds have kept themselves busy this weekend. It's harvest time for the farmers and moving south for the birds. Migrating swans were having a break on a golden field and a bit later a wedge of cranes flew over with trumpeting calls echoing in the air. Days are getting colder and shorter. To prepare for winter I started my first ever mystery knit-along. It's a shawl by Veera Välimäki, and I've nearly finished the first part of the instructions. The next part should arrive on Tuesday. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out! My choice of colors is this:

September sun
Yesterday's sun is just a distant memory on this rainy, grey day.
New loop scarf from leftovers of Color Affection. A quick knit waiting for the mail and new yarn..

Color Affection III
Pattern by Veera Välimäki
Yarn: Hopeasäie Basic
(75% wool, 25% nylon)
I finished this shawl just in time! Well, in time for my next project, that is.
In fact, it's badly overdue, as it was supposed to be a mother's day gift for mum last May..
Tomorrow I should receive new yarn which I ordered for Veera's new mystery shawl Varjo.
