Oslo Anorak

I finished this warm and woolly knit just when it was about too hot to even think about knitting. 

Lovely pattern, fun to knit and the color combo just fell in place unintentionally.

On the side, I knitted a quick baby hat for my new nephew.

No more winter

A few Instagram shots of what's been going on during the past couple of weeks. 

I've been travelling a lot. 

And along the way, knitting a lot. 

I've been twice in Tampere, 

once in Turku and Pietarsaari, 

and for about an hour in Helsinki. (Worth mentioning, right?)

Hours and hours on train, plenty of time to knit..

..and just booked my next train tickets.

Last of winter?

This year Easter was what I call perfect winter.

Sunny days, mild temperatures, snow, skiing, ice road to the island..

During Easter I got a chance to try out a pair of new kind of skis. I LOVED them and decided that now was the time to invest on something to keep me on the move. The OAC KAR skis combine the best qualities of snowshoes, telemark skis and backcountry skis. These ones are handmade in Finland.

Mindblowing experience! Revolutionary!

Slow skiing in the sun

Boy, it was warm! Unlike on previous skiing trips, today there was no wind at all, the temperature was just below zero and the sun was shining. The island was really quiet in the morning, I had the whole place to myself. I zig-zagged in the forest, skied past the familiar buildings, and enjoyed a cuppa in the sun. By the time I got back, the shoreline was buzzing with people skiing, snow-shoeing, ice-fishing and walking. Snow-mobiles were driving around (which really spoils the atmosphere) and the parking lot was packed. Good thing I woke up so early this morning.
