Wall embroidery

Another Pinterest-inspired project: Washi-tape wall embroidery on a magnetic board in sewing room.
The pattern is based on traditional Carelian soul bird embroidery and knit patterns. I wanted it to be something traditional with a link to my roots. My granddad was born and raised in Carelia and had to leave his home at a young age, when the area was evacuated during war. That is also where my profile name comes from - not just from my love for winter, but also from my family. It's a direct translation of my grandparents' last name.

Breakfast bliss

This morning everything is white!

I came across this sweet treat for mornings on Pinterest and made my own version of it.
Don't worry too much about the measurements, these are just guidelines:

1-2 dl berries and/or fruit of your choice.
(Here I used raspberries, black currants, cranberries and apples)
2,5 dl rolled oats
1/2 dl brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 dl chocolate chips
Mix these in a bowl and add to prepared baking dish.

2 1/2 dl milk
1 egg
1 1/2 tablespoon butter, melted
1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
Mix these in another bowl. Pour over the oat mix.

Bake in 200°C for 40 minutes.

Serve with anything you like, turkish yoghurt, honey, ice cream, vanilla pudding.. or just as it is!

Inside out

Some envelopes are more beautiful on the inside
and deserve second life turned inside out,
like this one.
And, again, I went a bit overboard with the tape..

Ps. it snowed again today :)

Midnight crafting

During the weekend I made some crafts for a craft market of my godson's school. Hopefully they will sell and raise some money for the good of the pupils.

Maple trees

"You love maple trees, don't you?" Asked my little friend.
He's right. I do.
I love the vivid colours and the distinctive shape of the leaves. There were still some leaves on maple trees over in my friends' home town. Over here, further North, winter is a bit closer.

It snowed today

It didn't snow much but it was snow nonetheless.

My first KAL (knit-along) and mystery knit project is finished. That was an exciting experience. It was a mystery all the way to the end. Those of you who don't know what a mystery pattern is, it's a pattern you receive in parts, not knowing what you'll end up with when you're finished. This one consisted of 3 parts e-mailed weekly.

This one was by one of my favourite designers, Veera Välimäki. And here it is (haven't blocked it yet):
