Colour therapy
Lacy Baktus (Ravelry link) in lime green Drops Alpaca got cast on last night. It'll go off to Colombia when finished. I'm knitting it in double yarn.
In addition to knitting tonight I made something for baby O. I'll post more pictures when I get my previous sewings photographed, too.

Maple flowers
Nirppu taught me how to make these beautiful flowers using just colourful maple leaves and a piece of wire.

Arctic autumn
A couple of hours on train took me to the Arctic Circle. I spent a lovely weekend with Very Important People. Friends up North.

Orange
That's the colour of the season.
On needles: 10days sweater (Ravelry link) by Suvi Simola
It might take a bit more than just 10 days to finish it..

Red
Years back I had a friend for a visit from another country. We were driving in the countryside. She was laughing thinking about a person asking directions on the phone somewhere in the countryside. "It's the red house with white window frames right next to the bus stop, which has a red and white shelter." I suppose it could be any house pretty much anywhere in the Finnish countryside...

Awake
A blue tit and a bohemian waxwing in the garden.
These guys were not the ones keeping me awake, though.
I couldn't go to bed until I was half way making this scarf. The next day I ran out of yarn. Drove to the shops to get another ball. None of them had this type (of course not) and the shop where I had bought it before had closed just an hour ago..
So I decided to use a different dye which I had for the other half.
I was nearly finished when I noticed I had done all the decreasings wrong. So I had to unravel the day's work, and again it was night time. But I couldn't stop until I'd finished the whole thing. It always pays off to unravel and do things over when something goes wrong. At least if you are one of the perfectionists like I am. Fortunately it's an easy pattern and knits fast.
Basic triangle scarf
Pattern: Word of mouth by the local craft shop keeper
Yarn: Noro Silk Garden Lite, two different dyes

Afrikka -- Africa
Viimeisen päivitykseni jälkeen lumi on sulanut, kuten arvata saattaa. Luonnon harmaissa ja ruskeissa sävyissä on silti jotain kaunista. Värien vähetessä luonto valmistautuu valkoisen talven hiljaisuuteen.
Tämä ilta päättyi upeaan afrikkalaissävytteiseen konserttiin.
Nämä kuvat ovat viime viikonlopulta pohjoissuomalaiselta rannalta. Niissä on tavallaan jotain hyvin afrikkalaista, vai mitä?
Since my last post the snow is gone as expected. There's still something beautiful in the grey and brown hues in the nature. As the colours are disappearing the nature is preparing itself for the quietness of the white winter.
Tonight ended with a great concert with African influences.
Last weekend I took these photos on a beach in Northern Finland. Don't they resemble Africa in a way??
Tämä viimeinen on suosikkini.
Se on kuin apinanleipäpuu kuivan kauden aikaan, ilman lehtiä.
This last one's my favourite.
It's like a baobab tree in the dry season with no foliage.

Sumua -- Fog
Tänään ajaessani kotiin töistä peltojen yllä oli sakea sumu ja auringonlasku värjäsi taivaan oranssiksi. Ajoin kotiin, sieppasin kameran kainaloon, otin polkupyörän alle ja ajoin täyttä vauhtia takaisin siihen kohtaan, jossa pelto aukeaa molemmin puolin tietä. Nämä kuvat ovat tietysti vain laimea otos siitä, miltä se näytti luonnossa, mutta ehkä niistä saa jonkinlaisen käsityksen.
Today as I drove back home from work I saw the most beautiful sunset over the foggy fields. I drove home, grabbed my camera and took my bike and cycled as fast as I could back to the part where the fields open on both sides of the road. Of course, the photos don't do justice to what I saw, but it's a good effort, anyway.

Auringonlasku klo 15 -- Sunset at 3pm
Vihdoin pakkaset hellittivät lähes kolmenkympin luvuista muutamaan asteeseen. Kävelin lempipaikkaani suolle ja haukoin henkeäni. Taivas oli upea.
After the freezing weather (-25°C/-13°F) today was really a radical change: only -5°C / 23°F. I went out to my favourite spot on the swamp and the sunset was just spectacular.

Pakkasenpuremia -- Frostbites
Freezing cold days are beautiful. The sky gets a special colour and the nature is still. I like these cold days. Over the past few days it's been as cold as -25°C. In the morning, after I had arrived to work I had to go back out to take this picture.
